Synagogue
A Synagogue is the Jewish place of worship. Jews pray by reading Hebrew Scriptures from The Tanakh.
The below audio is from Birmingham Progressive Synagogue, at this particular Synagogue services are conducted in a mix of both English and Hebrew in order to meet the needs of all visitors.
Saturday Service

Birmingham Progressive Synagogue had a very nice family-community atmosphere. It was the second time I had visited a Synagogue and wasn't too sure what to expect when I got there as the last time I had visited a Synagogue, I was in Primary School. Before going to the Synagogue, I had spoken to the Rabbi and requested for permission to record audio and footage of the service, she was very friendly and granted me permission to record audio however due to ethical issues I was not able to record footage. On arrival I was welcomed a gentleman who explained the service to me so that I had a understanding of what was happening. I was given a service book to follow. Overall I felt very welcome and the seeing the community praying together in the service made me feel warm. I was particularly shocked and pleased to see that the service was in English as well as Hebrew, helping people like myself, who do not understand Hebrew, to understand the service.
